"One of the nurses said to Mum, if they can get the swelling in her legs down enough for her to go home, would she like them to arrange a referral to the Hospice? And of course we were horrified. It gave me such a turn when she said it. And I thought Mum would have been really upset, but in fact she seemed to think it was a good idea. And the nurse said, It doesn't mean a sentence of death, which is what people always think, it just means that you're put in touch with people who can help you cope with your illness. And I must say it would be so lovely to have somebody else coming in and taking control, if she really is going to keep getting worse and worse. We can't do it - it's too much. We get so stressed, we end up shouting at each other. It would take such a lot of weight off our shoulders."
